Chris Harford Appears on Soundtrack to New Film, 'Approaching Union Square'

Written and Directed by Marc Meyers, APPROACHING UNION SQUARE is a collage of eleven tales capturing thirty-something New Yorkers struggling to find love and connection in the big city.  The characters include a psychic, sex addict, tourist, Italian immigrant, and others.  They all cross paths on a New York City bus.

The film's ensemble cast includes performances from an array of talented actors including: Katie Kreisler, Darren Pettie, Michael Goldstrom, Victoria Haas,  Brent Crawford, Peter McCain, Patricia Randell, Christine Elise McCarthy, Beth Manspeizer,  Jennifer Miranda Holmes, and Bobby Pataki.

The film also features the music of a handful of rising NY singer/songwriters and bands including: Slow Runner, Goat, Transcendence, Eddie Tadross, Eliane,  Stiffed, Preacher Boy, Dmitri Ehrlich, Brian Jones & Espen Noreger, Chris Harford & The Band of Changes, and Rachael Yamagata!

The film is based on Marc Meyers' original play “Love and Sex: Tales from the Trenches,” a collection of monologues that ran in Manhattan for six months in late 2001 and 2002.

This screening precedes the film's International Premiere on September 1 at the 30th Annual Montreal World Film Festival (Aug 24 - Sept 4).  As part of the Focus On World Cinema category, the film is one of only five US features at the festival.  In July APPROACHING UNION SQUARE was awarded the Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the Long Island International Film Expo.

More festival info is available at www.approachingunionsquare.com

Chocodog Records Reports BIG Chris Harford News

From the Chocodog site...

"Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered the new album by chris harford on chocodog records. we have just received some incredible news about the album. the record has been picked up by reincarnate records, which is manufactured and distributed by sony/bmg music. they will be releasing the chris harford album and distributing it in north america starting at the end of this summer. this means that we will no longer be making the record available online, as the official release date has now been pushed back, (and moved to a larger label). however, if you pre-ordered a copy from us, you will be receiving it in the mail on schedule, a rare first edition on chocodog records (complete with incorrect track listing). the record will be released in europe by schnitzel records. we are very happy for chris and we sincerely appreciate those of you who support chocodog worldwide system enterprise solutions. our concert tomorrow night in teaneck is no longer a record release party i guess. it's just a mutherfuckin party now."

Yowsah! More news on this damright exciting development to follow. For those who had the smarts to pre-order, nice work! Your CD has likely already arrived. For those whom did not pre-order, starting counting the days until late summer and the big label release!

'Looking Out For Number 6'

Chris Harford's newest CD, "Looking Out For Number 6" was temporarily released on Chocodog Records in April 2006 for pre-ordering customers. The CD was recorded with Dean Ween, Gene Ween, Marc Muller and George Flayer at the Fabulous Fountainhead in New Hope, PA, last August. The CD was produced, engineered and arranged by Michael Melchiondo, mixed by Andrew Weiss, and mastered by Emily Lazar at The Lodge. It's the first non-Ween release for Chocodog Records. As you may have read in the above blurb, the album has been picked up by Reincarnate Records (part of the Sony/BMG family) and so it will be released and promoted by that label later this summer. Big doings.

The track listing is as follows:

  • What We Do Not Know
  • This Moment is All We've Got
  • I Don't Need You Anymore
  • Pain is Good
  • Render Me Still
  • Teach Me
  • To Understand You
  • The Glider to the Queen
